In a landmark decision, the Grand Chamber panel of five judges in the European Court of Human Rights has decided to refer one case and to reject requests to refer 13 other cases .

The following case has been referred to the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights.

Strand Lobben and Others v. Norway (application no. 37283/13): concerning the removal of a mother’s parental authority and the adoption of her eldest son.

The judgement in favor of Norway in 2017 was hailed as a big win for the Norwegian system of inrerventions into families. The joy of Norway´s «Barnevernet» might prove to be shortlived.
