When KKN invites to the Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, April 21st, we will pray with a sense of burden and with authority for the unborn child.
When the Christian Conservative Movement in Norway was birthed in the 1970´s and 1980´s, it was a sense of burden and love for the unborn child that drove us.
We will never forget the monumental message that was held by Bishop Per Lønning in Filadelfia in Oslo on Thursday, May 29th, 1975, the same day when he resigned as Bishop of Borg in protest against the significantly liberalized abortion law. Lønning discussed this beforehand with his wife Ingunn, but nobody else. As he said to us 20 years later: «It was not something you discuss with people. It was my obligation before God who called me!»
Personally I was 17 1/2 years old at that time. Lønning´s leadership shaped me for life.
In the 1980´s Børre Knudsen and then Ludvig Nessa followed after Lønning. They stood up with credibility and integrity, but hardly any others in the Church of Norway followed suit. On June 10th, 1986 it was more than anything else their example and leadership that made it possible to gather 16.000 for a pro-life march in Oslo.
But the people who stood strong in the 1980´s, betrayed Børre & Ludvig little by little, or they gave only lip service.
The Christian Democratic Party (KrF) seems to be pretending when they every year make symbolic proposals in Parliament, seemingly a play to the gallery. The same can be said about Christians as a whole and «the politically correct pro-life-organizatons in Norway».
In Europe today there is a growing movement for the unborn child, especially among catholics. We participated last year in the annual March for Life in Zagreb together with 25.000 Croats, mostly young people under 30 years of age. In a couple of weeks we will participate with them again. Later this year we will march on Bratislava´s streets with more than 50.000 Slovaks who love the unborn child.
Both winners of the Family Defense Award 2018, the Polish medical doctor Katarzyna Jachimowicz and the President of Ordo Iuris in Poland, Dr. Jerzy Kwasniewski, have a strong commitment for the unborn child.
When we come together for prayer on April 21st, we will pray for the victims of «Barnevernet», for «Jews first», and for the unborn child. We don´t have any choice!
