The KKN Certificate of Honor was yesterday bestowed for the first time.
The recipient was His Excellency, the Ambassador of the great nation and people of Japan, Masahiro Tauchi.HE Masahiro Tauchi and Rev. Jan-Aage Torp
KKN´s Chairman, Jan-Aage Torp, personally bestowed the Certificate of Honor to HE Masahiro Tauchi.
HE Tauchi, who Jan-Aage has met in receptions at the Russian Embassy on some occasions, received the KKN Chairman in a beautiful way in his office in downtown Oslo, performing the Green Tea Ceremony, and they discussed a broad range of religious and societal topics. HE Tauchi is a lawyer and a former prosecutor in Japan, so Jan-Aage gleaned as much as possible from his legal insight and experience during the meeting which lasted 1 1/2 hours.
Jan-Aage Torp was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1957 of Christian missionary parents, so the first ever award bestowal of the KKN Certificate of Honor was a moving occasion for him. Jan-Aage lived in Japan until the age of four.
The words of the KKN Certificate of Honor are as follows:
The KKN Certificate of Honor is always in the A-4-format and contains the flag of the recipients nation as well as Norway´s flag. An important component in the KKN Certificate of Honor is the Christ-portrait that has been painted by the Norwegian painter Reidar Kolbrek.
